In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.
When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

WOWZA. This book was downright terrible. It was so bad that I just HAD to DNF. I couldn't do it.
This book hit the wall at about page 50. I initially read the testimonials at the book. One stuck out in particular because it stated that "fans of Twilight will enjoy this novel". I actually really didn't like Twilight, so that should've been a red flag for me. I'm so stupid.
I felt like this story had nothing appealing at all. At least to me. The plot was so rushed and annoying that I didn't even know what was going on. In one moment, MC (who's name I'm not even bothering to remember ) has moved to France and the next she's following our ML (Male Lead) around like some lost puppy. And when I thought this book was contemporary, it surprised me in a way where I was like "really? taking a trainwreck and adding some paranormal? As if it needed that." Amy could've stuck to mellowing out the plot and pacing.
Next up? Characters and their relationships. Relationships are built and then strengthened, like in real life. This book? Girl meets boy and goes "you're hot. I'm allowed to think you're my boyfriend and get jealous in less than 30 pages!" That totally isn't instalove. You know what I'm saying? GAG ME. I'm the kind of girl who loves to roll her eyes at the cheesiness of some novels. Go figure.
