This is for something called #Allegiant which I'm not sure I'm allowed to say yet. It's made from @HCCFrenzy so consider yourself TAGGED! I had a confidentiality notice. All I know is we're supposed to be writing a post about Divergent -whatever we want. Anything to profess your love of Divergent. Let's say you are Divergent and you're living in the Divergent world; how would you survive? These are my rules.
1. Train Yourself to Lie
Tough luck for the Candor because you're going to have to do some lying. Or a lot of lying. If you're Divergent, you need to make sure no one finds out. If you do, (in the words of Tori), "you're already dead." Teach yourself to lie slowly. First thing to do is to calm down and think rationally. Never try too hard to act casual cos that itself is a lie. Always look the person in the eye when you speak and speak in a tone that leaves nothing to question. Also, you can speak in a degrading tone just so no one would argue with you. And if you are Candor, you're most likely dead...
2. Train Yourself to Fight
Along with lying, you never know when you are going to get caught. If you aren't choosing Dauntless, this will be hard. You need to teach yourself to fight and run. If you ever need to be on the run or death, you'll have to be prepared. After initiation during the day, eat dinner and go practice in your room. If someone comes in, fake sleep or whatever your faction does. Just don't get caught. Ever. And that is an underlying message in itself.
3. Learn About Being Divergent
If you're Divergent, you're going to need to know what it is. Make sure you do your research or other means of getting it. Being in the dark about what you actually are is not going to help you survive. Find out what you actually are, what you can do and it will help you blend in. In this stage, you WANT to blend in.
4. Find Other Divergents as Allies.
You're going to need allies in itiation. You need to find other people who are Divergent. But make sure you keep your wits with you on who you approach. Never approach someone without knowing for sure. Find ways to test the waters without getting caught. You don't want to reveal yourself to someone who will turn you in. Unfortunately, you need to develop this yourself.
5. Show Aptitude in One Faction and Keep it There!
I got it, you've got aptitude for more than one faction. But the easiest tell is when you SHOW it. Do not show it. No one will suspect you if you're amazing at fighting and you're aggressive but dumber than bricks. It may seem strange or annoying but desperate times for desperate measures. Be that person no one will suspect.
6. Keep Your Values Intact
As Divergent, you hold power that not many people know of. Make sure you're using it for good, not evil. If you get caught but not killed, do not trust them. Never trust people who have captured you even though they didn't kill you. They will. And when they do... Do not feel safe and tell them anything. If anything, play them for fools and lie. Lie. LIE. It's better to die than drag every Divergent along with you. You're here for a purpose; revolution. Even if you're candle is burnt out, the flame is still alive.
7. Do NOT Be Afraid
As Divergent, you cannot be scared. You can't worry about the possibility that you'll die. You have to be Dauntless even if you aren't in that aptitude. Remember that Four wasn't Dauntless in aptitude; he chose what he wanted. You can choose what you want and can condition yourself. Do not be afraid of making decisions because if you overthink things, you'll die. If you don't think things, you'll die anyway. Just stay calm and learn to have a clear head. This is the most important step because being Divergent, it's scary. Yeah, I got it. People are hunting you. But if you want to survive, you need to trust in yourself and not let fear hold you back on everything you do; whether that's fighting, lying or acting.
