When I first started my blog, I didn't record the day I started. All I know is that it was somewhere in June. Since the 13th is my birthday, I figured, why not combine the two? That way it's easier to put a post together. [Can you tell how lazy I am?
So yes, today is both the birth date of moi and the birth date of Out of Time. I'm flailing because it's been some years and now I'm the big one five!!!!!!

LIFESTUFFS
- I discovered 8tracks and it is magical.
- I started grade 9 and with the help of some super angelic grade 12's, my year was easy to get through and loads of fun.
- Shoutout to the cookies in the cafeteria and the energy drinks in the vending machine - you two kept me sane.
- I started writing poetry!
- I started wattpad again and even though I've been having a billion month hiatus, I'm proud of reaching 10k on a story.
- I wrote more music.
- Yes, basically I did a lot of writing.
- I made friends with so many people it's unreal!! Seriously, I just became some kind of social unicorn. [Butterflies are too mainstream.]
- Without notice, I stood up in the middle of the cafeteria [400+ students] and sang Blank Space for karaoke. It was such a rush omg.
- I dyed my hair purple.
- I'm two steps closer to mastering the art of the winged eyeliner.
- My grades are looking so good compared to last year.
- I've perfected the art of making fun of my teachers [as a joke] and not getting in trouble for it.
- I found the courage to wear bright colored lipstick to school and never have I once looked back.
- Mom, I'm happy to announce that I'm not doing drugs [like you were so worried I would be.]
- I started watching more shows - The 100, OITNB, Teen Wolf, TVD and I'm going to start iZombie because of recs!
- I went out with my friends more than once. [I am an anti social honey badger 95% of the time so this is huge.]
- I MADE COLLAGES IN MY ROOM AND THEY'RE SPECTACULAR!
- I'm learning Fur Elise on the piano and I'm in looooooooove.
BOOKSTUFFS
- I met Jenny Han!!!!!!
- I got a bunch of ARCs from Macmillian, the unattainable publisher for so long.
- I started commenting on others' blogs and made a shizzle-load of friends.
- Out of Time became more of a writing blog than just strictly books.
- I got over 1000 comments on my blog this year alone and it's only June. WTF?????? I LOVE YOU!
- All the epic discussions on twitter - I see you.
- I've gotten a few Goodreads reviews deleted because I'm "reviewing the author" when I state reasons I don't want to read their book. I feel like such a badass.
- ALL THE 2k15 DEBUTS!
- I read my first Sarah J. Maas! [ACOTAR]
- I started the YOU Are Appreciated Project in light of all you awesome people.
- I started a bookstagram account.
- I tried putting gifs in my reviews and they're lovely.
- I did 3xAMA for the second year and it went off even better than I thought.
- People add me in their weekly linkups and I know it doesn't take that much time for one link but it makes me feel SO GOOD. You don't even know.
- I started doing book tags and guys, they are SO MUCH FUN. WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS SOONER?
- I WANTED to put a list of all the bloggers/authors who made my year but I realize that it'll be too long. Basically, if you've ever left a comment on my blog or if I've ever left one on yours, you're on that list. [And not to MAKE you comment on this post, but if you do, I will be writing you one of those TBH messages because I'm feeling ALL THE LOVE right now.]
The main thing I was trying to get in both lists is that I'm stepping out of my comfort zone. Last year, I would never have dreamed of wearing lipstick to school or doing photography. Now, I'm really grateful for all the support that's given me the confidence to do this kind of stuff. You guys are all appreciated. And I love you so much. Thanks for making this the BEST birthday so far, for Out of Time and myself.

WHY NOT GIVE STUFF AWAY ON MY BIRTHDAY? I love presents myself so might as well spread that love, ehhhhhhhhhh? [I actually don't even say eh that much haha.] And this is open INT. Most of my friends aren't even in the US/CAN so let's open this up like a present!!!!

Happy Birthday Nova to you and your blog! It's fantastic that you've had a wonderful year personally and blog-wise, you deserve all the followers and your posts are always insightful. Oh and I read ACOTAR as my first novel this year too :) (I thought I was one of the only ones who hadn't read Throne of Glass first).
ReplyDeleteHope this year is even better for you :)
Eugenia @ Genie In A Book
Thanks so much for the kind words, Eugenia! I always love going on your blog for the same reasons too. And *clings to you* I feel like we're the only ones who haven't read TOG
DeleteHAPPY. BIRTHDAY!!! Sounds like you had quite a year there -- ooh, where do I find you on 8tracks and Wattpad? (And I will be stealing social unicorn for my own purposes. And anti-social honey badger. XD)
ReplyDeleteFur Elise is so wonderful! I did a harp/piano duet once upon a time -- like we will probably never meet up, let alone in the same room as a harp and a piano, but it would be soooo fun. ACOTAR was also my first SJM read! (Didn't really love it, but that's another issue entirely.) And thank you so much for the giveaway -- nothing like present and cake on a birthday! *hands you cake*
ALYSSSA! Thanks for all the help on the writing <3333 I LOVE YA AND ALL YER COMMENTS
DeleteHappy birthday! We are the same age so that is cool! :D I've been following your blog for awhile now and I love reading your posts. Hmm...I'm really proud of the fact that I'm starting to get over my shyness and awkardness this year. It's been slow, but I'm progressing, haha! :) I'm also proud that I've gotten better at writing reviews, and that I finally started a bookstagram account. It's been a good year so far, that's for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteTalina @ Sassy & Dangerous
AHHH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOVA! I hope it's a great one and that it's filled with tons of books and lots of cake. ;) Thank you for sharing this and for the wonderfully generous giveaway - you are so sweet. ♥
ReplyDeleteNO PROB ZOE! HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY!
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 15 is a pretty spectacular time. I will be leaving it 2 months when I turn 16. It's so great to see what you have accomplished in the last year! The thing I am really proud of that I did this past year is asking friends of mine to go out and do things. I'm not good at asking people to do stuff so this was a big deal for me. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN!!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's be the same age for a little while hehe.
DeleteYAYYYYYY HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND BLOG BIRTHDAY!! You're so young haha - here's me about to turn 18 and you're still a little spring chicken. Congrats for all your accomplishments in the past year - wearing lipstick to school sounds AWESOME. I should try it :P And I'm getting better at winged eyeliner too LOL. I hope you have a wonderful birthday, lovely <3 It's been so great starting to read your blog this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not THAT young [which terrifies me.] THANKS SO MUCH! btw: love your loony blurbs.
DeleteThank you for this giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteMmm, something nice that happened to me.. Well, I met Sarah J. Maas! And I fund two awesome friends, I couldn't be any happier! :D
Ohh, happy birthday! :D I picked an exciting day to start following your blog, haha! Hope you have a great day today, and I loved reading about your life and book stuff, there's some amazing things in there (also how great is 8tracks?) and you should be proud. <3
ReplyDeleteI'm turning 23 next month and I'm sad to say I haven't done anything at all due to crippling anxiety and depression. However, I'm proud of the fact that I gathered up the courage to seek professional help, and I'm slowly and surely getting better!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you have had one great year! Just wanted you to know that I look forward to your posts and am a new follower (only found your blog about a week ago). Wishing you a happy day and an even better year to come!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! You had a very accomplished year :)
ReplyDeleteButterflies are too mainstream. --> I THINK YOU READ MY MIND, GIRL. I always tell my friends I'm a social dinosaur, haha! Also, teach me the ways of winged eyeliner, please. I can't even do it decently on ONE side, let alone two. xD
ReplyDeleteI LOVE adding your unique posts and discussions on our weekly recaps, girl. I GIVE YOU HUGS OKAY?? <3
Again, happy birthday! And happy blogoversary--you've come such a long way and I'm sure you're going to have many more amazing birthdays and blogoversaries to come. :) I will be here for you! (Jesus I sound like a protective mom and I'm just turning 16 lol.)
HAHA, congratulations on having an absolutely spectacular year! Those are some pretty big achievement, Nova. I'm so PROUD. I can't believe you met Jenny Han! Show me a picture! Also, YAY SOCIAL UNICORN FTW
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! In case you cannot tell, I am throwing confetti at you through the Internet. I would give you some cake, but I still have to figure out how to transport something so big and delicious through cyberspace. But I promise that I will have invented it by your next birthday.
ReplyDeleteAlso, HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY! I have been following (stalking) your blog for about a year now, and I have really seen it grow. I know you can get even farther with your blogging dreams. Also, I hope your list of things of LIFESTUFF and BOOKSTUFF are even longer next year!
Happy Birthday to you and your blog!! 8tracks is literal HEAVEN! 1000 comments in 6 months??!?!? That's insane!!! ACOTAR is so so so so SO GOOD! AH!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and Happy Blogoversary!! I am so impressed that you have stepped outside of your comfort zone so much, that is a really brave and fabulous thing to do. ANd now you can be so, so proud of yourself :) Also, totally jealous that you dyed your hair purple because I have never had the guts to do it, as much as I've wanted to (not necessarily purple, but SOME fun color!). And YAY for writing! I wish I had some time to do it. One of these years ;) Hope you have another fabulous year waiting for you!!
ReplyDeleteShannon @ It Starts At Midnight
I loved reading your list of all the things you have achieved. It's amazing how many things blogging can give us :) Happy blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteand happy birthday. I sometimes click too early on publish *sigh*
DeleteHow long have you been blogging? And you're just 15. Girl, you terrify me. How even? *hugs* You are far, far too awesome, Nova, and so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And your list is full of all the awesome. All the more happy birthdays to come for you awesome lady who is so much younger than me and has done far me than I have that I am terrified to bits. Excuse me, I need a moment.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday - to you and your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you are exactly like me in high school - I used to joke with my teachers like that (while being serious) but rarely got in trouble. I was such a loud mouth tho haha.
Thank you for the giveaway!
*snuggies snuggies snuggies* HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! We have a week between our own birthdays!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteYou have a hundred and two...books
You look like a girlwithawesomepurplehair (slur it, and you can make it 1 syllable)
And you act like one too (???)
I never said I was a poet, or songwriter, ok? I'll leave that up to you. But seriously, I HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY WAS FABULOUS!
Happy birthday!!! *pops shiny balloons that explode and throw confetti everywhere* So happy that you got the guts to wear whatever you want and go out with friends more. Also yay for more writing in everything~ Oh, oh and I started watching OITNB recently and Poussey is my little angel *_*
ReplyDeleteCongrats and happy birthday to your awesome blog tooo ♡
Happy, happy birthday! That's so exciting! You've definitely gotten out of your comfort zone. I would say that's a huge accomplishment.
ReplyDeletePurple hair = awesome! One day, I might be brave enough to dye my hair. . . but today is not that day. My hair happens to be red and I've been reading that it's one of the most difficult colors to dye. But one day it will happen! (Probably when I'm old when most people dye their hair to hide the grey, I'll dye mine teal. XD)
I would say lipstick and winged eyeliner is definitely out-of-comfort zone material. I've been wanting to try different things with my make-up. Is it weird that make-up kind of scares me? I've never done the winged thing yet, but I'm going to try it. . . when I have time.
Also, I love love your poetry! It is awesome. :) And you should totally coin the term "social unicorn."
HAPPY HAPPY (BLOG) BIRTHDAY NOVA! I know this comment is a day late but life. Anyways you've accomplished so much (much more than I have) and I'm really proud of you. <3
ReplyDeleteCRINGING AT HOW LATE I AM (I've been late for every huge event that happens in the blogosphere because I'm horrible D: ), BUT HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, NOVAAAA!!! You're only fifteen?! But you sound so much more mature! At fifteen I'd only just started book blogging, and boy was that an awful and embarrassing time, haha. I'm so proud to see how far you've come, girl. <3
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it sounds like 2015 has been a pretty awesome year for you so far! My complete admiration at your bravery for standing up and singing a song in front of 400-freaking-people. I already have trouble making friends irl much less performing in front of a bunch of strangers, lmao. And holy shit, you'll have to show me a picture of your perfected winged eyeliner one day. I tried it a bunch of times in the past but I just ended up looking like an... I don't even know. T_T I swear my hands hate me. They never can do what I want them to do, haha.
Yay for Macmillan ARCs! The most unattainable publisher for me would be Penguin. I've NEVER been approved for any book I requested by them and it makes me sad because they come up with a lot of super interesting books. And yesss, it's so nice seeing how your blog has transformed over the years. I love that book blogs these days aren't only limited to books and reviews and boring stuff like that, but that they are branching out and becoming more personal. It just makes the community such a warmer place!
Anyway, happy birthday and happy blogoversary once again! I wrote you a super sappy message for the blogger appreciation event, and I'm going to get sappy again here: I'm so glad I met and got to know you, and I'm desperately hoping that you'll continue to stick around the blogging community for many more years! We need to make more conversation together. ;) ALL THE HUGS, NOVA. ALL THE HUGS. <333
I know I already said it on Twitter (on your ACTUAL birthday) but HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOVELY!!! I really hope you had an amazing day, filled with lots of books and music and writing - and anything and everything else you love - because you deserve it <3
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you made up your blog's birthday XD Funnily enough, I only made mine three days after my birthday. So we're twinning a bit there :D
As for something I'm proud of over the last year ... writing two books, and finishing Honours in one piece (and getting the highest marks to boot). Those things are ones I am pretty proud of ^.^
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN *THROWS CONFETTI AND GLITTER AND SPARKLES AND THOSE POPPER THINGIES AND STREAMERS AND EVERYTHING* <3
Happy(blog) birthday Nova. I'm fifteen too! *waves* but I just finished tenth grade. and I'm proud of surving and reading 96 books so far and getting 60 blog followers and getting better at viola and winning a writing award.
ReplyDelete-Shanti@http://weavingwaveswords.wordpress.com
Oh golly, congratulations and happiest of birthdays, dear! I hope you continue to blog and share your creative ideas and wisdom for another bunch of years to come. I think it's a pretty neat idea to celebrate your blogversary and birthday on the same day too, by the way. It means you get two cakes, right?
ReplyDeleteRight?
Teach me the secrets of winged eyeliner, go you for bright lipstick and Blank Space. I'd have loved to be there. I probably would have been your backing dancer, you know.
xx
Happy birthday + blogoversary Nova!! :D this is just a huge achievement! Don't you just love the feeling of having reached this far? :) Anyway, it's amazing how you were able to achieve so many things these past few weeks/months! Wishing you more birthdays to come! :)
ReplyDelete*dances* Happy Blogoversary!! :D I'm so so happy for you and can't wait for the future with this blog! Thank you so much for the giveaway and I think I am super proud of how committed I have been to my blog. I tend to have an inconsistent hobby and it's great to see blogging is really sticking with me. ;)
ReplyDelete~Kaitlin @ Next Page Please!
HAPPY 15 NOVA!!! As a 15 year old currently I will say that it is not all that Taylor's song chalks it up to be but it's pretty fantastic. It sounds like you've had a great past year and I'm only hoping that your next year will be just as great. So happy to hear grade 9 has been good to you, honestly I was frightened going into my freshman year and while I still think upon it with nothing less than disgust because ew ew ew ew sophomore year was infinitely better, I guess it wasn't that bad.... And omg blank space karaoke?? WISH I WAS THERE I'd be so down for that. Anyway happy birthday!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! <33 it seems like you've had a fabulous year, both life and bookish wise. I can't believe you were able to randomly karoke a T Swizzle song in a cafeteria- LIFE GOALS. Also, purple hair?! That is seriously awesome. I'm thinking about getting a strip of color- neon blue or red or something- because I want to do something rebellious, haha.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY JEALOUS that you got to meet Jenny Han!! I would LOVE to meet her. Also, 1,000 comments is one heck of a lot of comments girl, who even are you?! :D
I hope you had a fabulous year, and here's to another wonderful year filled with tons of new memories. <33
Happy birthday!!! Hope you have a great one :)
ReplyDeleteSomething that happened this past year that I'm proud of is that I marched in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgivingsday Parade in the top high school marching band.
NOVA!!! i'm so incredibly sorry i wasn't able to leave a comment on your actual birthday. nonetheless, happy belated birthday to you and your blog!! you're fifteen! *breaks out into tswizzle song* and we're nearly birthday twins! it looks like you've had a FABULOUS year (8tracks is the best thing in the world) (also lots and lots of writing) (and arcs! and jenny han! and commenting queen!!) i'm so glad to have joined bookstagram and found you! :)
Happy Birthday. I'm really happy that I'm nearly finished with my university course after four years of hard work!
ReplyDeleteHello and thanks for this! :) You're very fond of music though.
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of myself this year because I did great in my studies. I got high grades in all my subjects and couldn't believe when I saw my average. Since I'll be graduating in college next year, I'll work harder.
Happy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really proud of myself because I got a new job and I love what I'm doing now :)
Happy birthday! I've been blogging for almost 2 years now. wohoo :D
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day and congrats on your blogoversary! I got my degree this year and I'm really happy :) Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI feel pretty awful for being this late to comment on this post. *hangs head in shame* I was caught up with school and debate practices. However, despite being late, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY NOVA! Forgive me sweetheart, and remember that I love you!:) You're awesome!:)
