3xA MA: Katie Cotugno

with 3 comments
I've always felt so grateful to the authors that take the time to connect with me through social media. In my mind, I'd always thought they were on an unattainable level. In this event, I want to get to know the authors; to see them for the people they are and not just as creators of your favorite book.

Note: For each post, links are left to the author's social media. If you know an author whose book has affected you [in my event or just in general,] please use one of those links and leave a nice message to them! Something as simple as "I'm such a huge fan of your work" can go a long way - you'd be surprised.

One of the first ARCs I'd ever received was How to Love by Katie Cotugno. I still remember loving it a lot and am super excited for Katie's new book, 99 Days which comes out soon.

1. I'm finishing up my MFA this June, and I'd love to teach creative writing someday.
2. I only like strawberries if they're room temperature, and I only like tuna if it's very cold.
3. I love my iPhone, but I'll always use a paper planner.
4. I can lose hours--hours--cruising home renovation blogs. Never mind that I don't own a house.
5. The book I'm working on now is a tragic love story set against the backdrop of the teen-pop factory in 1997 Orlando. Yes, for real! I'm kind of obsessed with it.
Let's be honest, #5 is the one we squealed over. ALL THE BOOKS! Thanks so much, Katie, for writing this cute little post!

Thanks for checking out my blog and remember:  Be kind to one another. - Ellen

Katie's Goodreads | Twitter | Website

Katie Cotugno went to Catholic school for thirteen years which makes her, as an adult, both extremely superstitious and prone to crushes on boys wearing blazers. She routinely finds herself talking about the romantic endeavors of characters on TV shows as if they actually exist in the world.

Katie is a Pushcart Prize nominee whose work has appeared in The Broadkill Review, The Apalachee Review, and Argestes, as well as on Nerve.com. Her first novel, HOW TO LOVE, is due out from Balzer + Bray on October 1st, 2013.

The great loves of Katie's life include child's pose, her little sister, and mozzarella and honey sandwiches. She lives in Boston (and in sin) with her boyfriend, Tom.

Thanks so much to Katie for donating a signed 99 Days postcard!

I loved reading these facts about Katie Cotugno. I have a friend that has a preference similar to #2. She only eats apples at room temperature, which is odd, but also really funny. We tease her about it all the time (in a nice way, of course).

One interesting fact about me is that I'm terrified of eyeballs. I can't even have an eye exam without freaking out. People have to pin me down when I need I drops in. I'm also a night owl and stays just up half the night reading or in Twitter and Goodreads. Thanks so much for the awesome giveaways.

Eating cold strawberries hurt my teeth sometimes, so I really don't blame Katie for only liking them at room temperature. I haven't read How to Love or 99 Days (YET--this will change sometime in the next couple months), but they both look like my type of books. :)

As for my interesting fact, I love birds. They're really interesting! They're fun to watch. :D
