Waiting on Wednesday: Seven Days - Eve Ainsworth

with 16 comments
Title: Seven Days
Author: Eve Ainsworth
Pub Date: February 15th, 2015
Publisher: Scholastic
Page Count: N/A

This bold, compelling and topical story about bullying is told from the perspective of the bully and the bullied. You won't be able put it down until you've reached the conclusion. Jess's life is difficult enough without Kez picking on her – it’s turning school from a safe place into a nightmare. Kez has plenty of problems too but she finds comfort in knowing she is better off than Jess - or so she thinks. A hard-hitting and even-handed look at bullying and the issues facing teenagers today.

I first saw this book mentioned here, and decided to check out the Goodreads page. When I did, I was completely drawn into the idea. I've wanted to read a book like this for so long. I can see where this might go wrong [the bully is some kind of whiny, entitled character] but it could also be insightful and eye-opening. Bullying is something very personal to me, as I've been the victim, the bystander and in my darkest moment... the bully. I have huge hopes for this story and by the synopsis and the idea, it could end up being one of my all time favorites.

I love bullying books. I know that sounds totally sadistic LOL, but I just think they're so raw and interesting. Plus, we hardly ever see the bully's POV, so it'll be interesting if the author tries to make them sympathetic or just embraces their douchey side

I would read this. And I'm surprised by that. But it would be interesting to read both sides, from their point of view.
