As part of my winter break, I decided that making a collage on my dresser top would be a good idea. Let me explain: In my room, I've got this 4x1 (ft) dresser that's got a plain white top with a piece of class that goes over. Kind of looks like a coffee table. Kind of not? Anyway, every time I look at it since I bought it [which is like two years now?], I can't help but feel that it's empty.
And guys, I am one of the least creative people in the world when it comes to physical art projects. If I could paint on that dresser top, I would, but I can't. So LIGHTBULB! I thought, why not do a collage on the dresser itself and then put the glass back on?
This project took about ten hours with over seventy images from google. Everything has a meaning and reason and I'll be going through what I've done.
First, I compiled a list of google pictures and stuck them all in a folder. This is the easy part. Excuse me trying to be tumblr from the picture to the side.
These pictures included tumblr scenery, musicians, quotes/lyrics and a LOT LOT LOT of what I think is fandom stuff! I wanted this collage to represent something but I didn't know what. It was kind of a risky project because I was going in it without ANY direction and looking at the final product, I realize that it does have meaning. It's my identity in pictures.
But let's keep going! After I finished this, I started cutting, assembling and taping. This is the part that took 10 hours. Pictures were cut with funny shapes and scrambled everywhere without much rhyme or reason but the chaos looks pretty legit in the end. And that represents me a lot!
To the left side is a picture of what work looked like after about a half hour. Yes, that is me accidentally putting two different Nina's beside each other. Oops.
To the right is more like after an hour and a half.
Also, I wish I had more picture of my process but I don't! I was just really focused on finishing and here it is. And yes, I realize that you can't see anything. I did say that it's big! Plus, look at my widdle tv just hanging there! [You can also see my fabulous window; totally a million dollar view.]
However, never fear as I'll be doing something I don't usually do: take pictures. [No seriously, I'm usually so bad at taking pics!]
- Fall Out Boy, Miss Missing You
Just saying, there's a LOT more! But instead of showing you individually, you can look for yourselves with the three small pictures before I start spotlighting. Click and drag into another A lot of what I didn't show were tumblr images that, quite honestly, are more background than anything else.
This is all about me in about seventy pictures! What do you think? Would you ever consider trying this?

I would recommend clicking to make these bigger! [like I said, I'm not even close to
being a good photographer. Haha!
But wait, this is not enough. I'm going to have to start snapping close ups of things in catagories I've created. Warning: I might get carried away, oops.
Bookish Things!
- It's a Jamie McGuire quote because <3
- And then all the Herondale Boys with their Parabatais, courtesy of Cassandra Jean.
- Tumblr girl issues call for TFIOS. I'm sorry, okay? [okay.]
- To be honest, I haven't read Perks, but I really love this quote so much!
- And how could I forget a Cinder quote when I've met Marissa twice???
- Dauntless? Who could forget Divergent? I mean, I didn't like the movie as much as the book, but MEMORIES!
- The free little library just looked cute so I used it! Plus, tumblr as everything!
Lyrics
- I feel like I should've had more in this category but I guess it didn't work out that way [you can also count the peeking Sweater Weather in the third picture if you want to get technical.]
- The first pic has two lyrics! The black on white one is a Taylor Swift quote from "Enchanted" [I FREAKING LOVE THAT SONG] and the white on black one is from "Gimme Sympathy" by Metric. [Also, if you really want to, the picture behind Marina's head is from A Drop in the Ocean.
- ED SHEERAN <33333 [Also the drawing of him is super cute!]
- It's an old song but it's a mainstream old song so I can't even brag about loving Iris. [It's still a great song, though]
- Let's bring back Taylor, again! [Seriously, the amount of Tay pictures I have on this collage is sad] These are all the unique lines from Enchanted because that song is newest obsession!
- I also have a Polaroid of Taylor with "Wildest Dreams" lyrics on it but I think we're good with the whole "Nova likes Taylor" thing.
- Lastly but not least [in the slightest!] we have Fall Out Boy and this is my favorite lyric in Miss Missing You and quite possibly the entire album.
"The person that you'd take a bullet for is behind the trigger"
- Fall Out Boy, Miss Missing You
People
This has an EMBARRASSINGLY large amount so bear with me!
- That hot male model in the corner is Francisco Lachowski. Like, heart eyes emojis??? Well, actually the real reason I put him on the collage is because every wattpad novel ever has him casted as the main "hot guy" [excluding fanfictions.] I wonder why everyone things the entire population of wattpad are teenage girls?
- Then let's keep talking about hot guys because the beautiful male taking a rainbow drag beside him is the one, the only, Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. Their music is amazing and as a musician, I can only aspire to achieve their level of talent.
- Wow, all the musicians huh? The fabulous lady with the green hair is Jenna This is just classic J-Law.
- My dirty mind cannot resist this Captain Hook line. Plus, my parents told me nothing blatantly dirty, so I went for questionable.
- I didn't really like Les Miserables because of CERTAIN actors but God, this scene.
- No reason needed. This is queen Slaylor and she slays.
- Lindsey Stirling [aka the most amazing violinist + EDM creator] and then Ebba Zingmark, who looks like Queen Slaylor. But seriously, go listen to Lindsey Stirling if you haven't yet. She's wonderful.
- My first YouTube musician, Christina Grimmie! There's just so much love for her, even though she isn't as out there as she used to be. Love her 2013 album, With Love <3
- Hehe, second appearance of the two Ninas.
- Paramore, another band that owns my heart! I really like their old music, not so much their new. Yes, I'm one of those fans. I support them, I just don't like it as much. The whole punk rock thing was great.
- And then here's the guy who's part of the band who think they're punk rock. Seriously, I laugh every time because teenage girls think they're so "punk rock" for listening to Five Seconds of Summer. But I can't deny, Watermelon Lukey is freaking adorable.
Just saying, there's a LOT more! But instead of showing you individually, you can look for yourselves with the three small pictures before I start spotlighting. Click and drag into another A lot of what I didn't show were tumblr images that, quite honestly, are more background than anything else.

Oh wow this is such a wonderful idea and so cool! I love how much it livens it up and makes it really unique, too! Good job! :)
ReplyDeletethanks so much!
DeleteI LOVE THIS. Seriously, the entire dressertop looks amazing. I've always thought that would be fun to do. :) Paramore is one of my favorite bands, and I feel the same way as you do! I prefer their older music. I also love Ed Sheeran's music! If I made a made a collage, lyrics from some of his songs would definitely be a part of it.
ReplyDeleteI had to show so much self control. I wanted a good mix of a bunch of things but if I used my first idea, it would be ALL lyrics. Hehe! I'm a total music junkie and yes, MAKE A COLLAGE! [the first one i did was like this but smaller and in a photo frame!]
DeleteOh my gosh, this is so AMAZING! Seriously, I absolutely love this! You done such a great job :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Fall Out Boy <3
I'm so glad! I'm not sure if I've ever worked this hard on anything in my life. And YAAS! Fall Out Boy is wonderful. Have you heard Uma Thurman? It's like my latest favorite!
DeleteOh this is so fun! And I feel like I'm watching exactly what my niece would make, she loves everything you have in your collages. I'm hoping to be more creative this year :)
ReplyDeletei'm actually pretty general in terms of likes and dislikes so i totally see that happening. creative stuff is actually so much fun! i'm hoping to change up my room a lot throughout the year. make it more "me."
DeleteThis is so beautiful! I'm horribly uncreative so I don't even think that I could attempt something like this. But I love how the collage is a reflection of you. It sounds like you had so much fun!
