This is the last day of the Musings of 2013 event. Omg. This is such a big moment. It's the new year. It's a year full of new things.
Notice anything different? Look closer... LOOOOOOOOK closer.
So happy 2014 everyone! (Well, tomorrow, but still...)
Yes. It's time to party because you've reached another year and a lot more stuff. Plus, I'm still on school break so I'm allowed to party.
But back to the "looking" thing. Do you see what's new? It's a new year so I thought I'd make some changes! And trust me, these changes are going to BLOW YO MIND! (And it blew mine because I never thought I'd be able to think of them.)
I don't know what I'm going to do this year, but it's going to be awesome. And I'm totally going to get to 100 thousand tweets! (Is it kind of sad that this is my main goal?)
The biggest change is the beautiful design and name.
NAYME!
Wanna hear about where "Out of Time" came from? So I was WHINING (yep, I really was) over DM with Jessi over my blog name. Then it got to the topic of Musings of a Blogder. Still can't get over how sucky that is. Ew. I still love my "Blogder" term, but it's lame and not even witty. No wonder I never get any ARCs. Haha.
Anyway, I wanted to name it "Teardrops on my Kindle" because I like Taylor Swift. (Fun Fact: this is also how Jessi got her blog name! So cool!) But I don't know if i'll still like Taylor afterwards and I don't want to change it AGAIN.
So why Out of Time?
I was about to have an aneurysm about the name. I wanted it to be a double meaning, but not too many words. It has to be about books and music yet not too obvious. I want something that's sort of a conversation starter.
"Ooh, what does (blog name) here mean?"
"What's the meaning bejind your blog name?"
Out of Time says two different things at once. It displays my lack of reading time and how I'm drowning in my TBRpile (update: shelf) (second update: bookcase). And what if I clear my book shelf? BACKUP PLAN! Out of Time is also a term for music for a really sucky musician. If a musician is out of time, they're out of tempo (they're playing too fast or slow). Not saying that I'm a "sucky musician", just that it relates to music in a way too! :)
See how smart Nova got? (Still think that I just got lucky.)
DESIGN:
Who better than Stephanie at Hopeless Romantics? She's a fairy and she's amazing. Her designs are so pretty. They really are! And it was a friend named Dana who got her blog done and it caught my eye (here). I FREAKED out when I saw this design. My heart STOPPED. She sent me a proof of this design after she was done. This is (an underexaggeration) of my face:
It's similar to mine in the way where it still feels like home; a more furnished, matching and drool-worthy home.
So what do you think of the new blog? I'm still Nova and this is still my little blog. It's got a new look and a new name, but I've still got my "fresh" personality to keep this blog unique! And in 2014, I'm going to be trying to let go of the whole "nice, new girl" persona. Reality is that I'm way snarkier than I let on and it would be more fun if I showed that off. I'm so tired of playing it safe.
So what is your goal in 2014?

I know I said this before but I LOVE it! It's awesome and the name is also very cool! I can't get over how fantastic everything looks!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to these changes, Nova! It sounds really exciting. :)
ReplyDeleteHey! This looks awesome! :) I'm happy that you came up with a blog name that is meaningful to you!! Also love that you changed everything up right in time for the new year! A fresh start!! HAPPY NEW YEAR-- I hope it's a good one!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I LOVE IT!!! Glad to have helped, seeing as how YOU helped ME first :D
ReplyDelete<333
Woohoo! I love the new look and the new name, Nova! I hope 2014 is wonderful for you. <3
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new name and design! I love both of them. :D And I'm 100% with you on having a conversation starter name. Those are THE BEST! My blog used to be BookNook and that's not a conversation starter.. it's so... typical. But now that it's Nose Graze, people are taken back. They go "Woah, what on earth is that?" And it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo congrats on your name change! I don't know about you, but changing my name made me feel so much more confident about your blog. I hope it goes the same for you!
Happy New Year!
The new design is gorgeous! And I love the name too ;) Can't wait to see what 2014 brings for you and your posts. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI like your new header Nova! The color is absolutely GORGEOUS.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how you came up with your new blog name - it's funny since when I was thinking of a new blog name for myself, I did something with Teardrops On My Guitar too - Teardrops On My Pages or something lame like that (I like reading books that make me cry).
I think my goal should be to limit myself to 100 tweets lol I waste so much time on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteLove the name - I haven't been here before but I like the new design :-)
