ARC Review: Find Me - Romily Bernard

with 4 comments

Title: Find Me
Author: Romily Bernard
Pub Date: September 24th, 2013
Publisher: Harper Teen/Simon & Schuster UK
Page Count: 307

“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

Find Me tells the story of a girl fighting for her sister. Only thing is, she claims to be the "bad guy". If she's the "bad guy", then I wouldn't mind rooting for her. - Musings of a Blogder

WHOA. This book. It's honestly so hard to write a review because this book is so different from most. I first found out about Find Me from Goodreads and this tour, so then I liked the idea and started reading. Let me just say, Romily, you owe me sleep time! Me (the idiot), decided to start reading at 10 PM without thinking of the possibility I wouldn't stop.

This book follows Wicket, a hacker. Her Dad had the same job and was caught so you can imagine how freaked out she must be; well... she's not. And that's what I love about this MC. She can be a bit difficult, but you know she's the hero when you're still rooting for her, in her uphills and downs. She's also got a mouth on her and I kind of love her for that.

As the story goes on, we find out a girl named Tessa has died. And on Wick's doorstep is her journal... with a stickynote that says "Find Me". Turns out Tessa's death was caused by someone, but I'm not going to elaborate about that. That big idea just turned this into a murder mystery of "whodunnit" even though, it wasn't a murderer... per se.

Romily keeps you guessing and that's what really makes this story stand out. She got me with the guilty person because I thought it was someone else. All her characters are pretty cool and have some kind of interest to them. The only thing I know that was a bit funky was the fact that sometimes, a little character was introduced but never talked about again after the particular scene.

I just know that I'm happy to be able to talk to such a great author. She's amazing at what she does and the amount of feels I got from this amazing book was just too much. Look out for this author on the NYT's Bestseller list because she'll make it there. She really will.

I graduated from Georgia State University with a Literature degree. Since then, I’ve worked as a riding instructor, cell phone salesgirl, personal assistant, groom, exercise rider, accounting assistant, and, during a very dark time, customer service rep.

So don’t let anyone tell you a BA degree will keep you unemployed.

This book sounds really good, I like the idea of the MC being a hacker and then I love mysteries where the author keeps you guessing. Great review! ~Pam

    This book is so amazing! I agreed with you on a lot of different points on it, especially the twists and turns. Griff and Wick are the best. I NEED Trust Me. Like right now. ;-; ;-;
