Song Rec: Cough Syrup - Young The Giant

with 4 comments
This song reminds me so much of a show I'm very obsessed with right now: Skins. I don't know why but the feel of the song just matches the show [the first generation of teenagers.] That being said, I would love to share this song with you guys!

I really like the tune of this song. It doesn't sound very dark even though some of the verse is more negative than positive. I like it because the chorus turns positive and it makes me want to dance. This is the kind of song that I feel would be played while people are dancing on a beach in the middle of summer.

What's interesting to me is that I don't actually completely understanding the meaning. I've got a little bit of an idea but not a deep connection that I usually have when it comes to songs I really like. Strangely, the musical aspect of this song was enough to completely win me over.

Plus, this song makes me feel like a teenager even though I'm younger than the typical seventeen year old in YA books. I just really want to go to a party after listening to this song. That or go camping with all of my closest friends.

Let me know if you had any feels after listening!

I remember hearing this on Glee (way back in Season 2 or 3) for the first time and it was in such a heartbreaking scene involving a suicide attempt that I can't really separate the scene from the song ;__; But I can see how it fits the characters of Skins omg particularly Effy and how she tries to disassociate herself away from life with drugs and wild partying.

I love this song and this band so much! I am currently watching Skins right now as well. I'm halfway through the first episode of season two. I can totally see this relating to the characters of Skins!

Gosh, I do love this song. I haven't listened to YtG other songs, but I heard this one randomly on Spotify about a year ago and was immediately passionate about it. It's kind of a softly upbeat melancholy feeling song and I really love that.
