Did you notice the title change? Yes? Yes? Let's just say, I'm getting more creative with my Tuesdays. I will now be doing album reviews, musical discussions and "Get Rec'd" where I review/gush about a certain song that I want to push onto others! It makes no sense to do negative song reviews because unlike books, you listen to a song for like three minutes - and if you don't like it, it pretty much amounts to nothing.
Lindsey Stirling is a violinist and a really good one at that. This medley could've been a simple one with her and her violin, uptempo if we were lucky. But Lindsey thinks so far outside the box and besides the fact that the video is so visually appealing [seriously, it is. The costumes are so amazing and I have mad respect!]
The music starts of kind of typical for a lone violin. I actually have not watched Phantom so I don't know the songs [except Think of Me] but this video makes me want to. Anyway, it's slow and visually, black and white when all of a sudden, BAM. There's bright colors, electric guitar, drums and Linsey CRUSHING it on the violin. Seriously, how does someone play so fast?!
I can't even describe how beautiful this is, you would have to listen for yourself. My favorite part is right after the slow intro because it completely caught me off guard the first time listening and what really hooked me in!
I don't think this classifies as "writing music" because there's a lot going on and it could be distracting but despite the lack of any vocals, I've found myself jamming out to this song multiple times! Like totally play it at your next party or something.

That was so freaking cool. Phantom is actually my favourite musical ever (SO YOU MUST WATCH IT - WHAT HAS YOUR LIFE BEEN WITHOUT THE PHANTOM, NOVA?), so it was awesome to see the music changed up. Thank you for sharing this! <3

Wow! This is amazing. I will definitely have to get this off iTunes.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm looking forward to her album.
I recently saw the movie in Theater class. You should watch it if you get the chance! The characters are okay ( the main character is kind of. . .eh, shallow). But the music is great! The costuming, the sets, there all astounding. I got a story idea from watching it and now this medley has revived it.
The song, Shatter Me has vocals from the singer Lzzy Hale so I would rec that one, especially if you like being able to sing along.
DeleteI'm literally listening to Crystallize right now LOL! What a coincidence! I love Lindsey Stirling so much. I always listen to her when I'm doing work or trying to study. Love this song so much. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAHHAAHAHAH I see what you did there with the title. ;)
I actually can't study with her on because I just want to jam XD
DeleteAND YES, I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THAT TITLE FOR THE LONGEST TIME
Lindsey's music is amazing! I own both her albums and I listen to them constantly. Phantom is such a good piece from her. And the costumes. The black and white to colour change is a really great reference to the movie version actually. The beginning of the movie, which is set in the 'present' for the characters, is in black and white, and it changes to colour as we go back in time to the main story.
