Really, my month was pretty mundane. I've just gotten into the swing of second semester and it feels so weird to not have the same schedule all year! What even? I could tell you about how the boy who broke my heart is in one of my classes and I still have to see him. Every. Day. Or even worse: that I still sort of like him, but I'm going to focus on a positive.
I'm acing all my classes so far. And it's early in the semester so at least I'm doing well for now. I have a 101 in Religion, 93 in Science and a 96 in Music. Whoo! However, that also means that I've read like three books this month. At night, you can faintly hear me muttering to myself in shame [considering that my January consisted of me reading like eighteen books.]
One thing that did happen was that I got to reenact the Divergent knife throwing scene in my Geography class. Since I am one heck of a sassy biscuit my teachers love [or tolerate] me. I've really grown on them like fungus.
Anyway, I was on my phone in class and suddenly, a softball comes out of nowhere and smacks the phone in my hand and scares the crap out of me. [Yes, I know what you're all asking: the phone is okay.] My teacher goes "dang" because she was trying to hit me in the head and missed [I'm not supposed to be on my phone.] So I may have challenged her to do just that. That caused the entire class' attention to focus on us while I stood target for the teacher and we ended up not having to do any work for the rest of the period.
PS: She never did hit me in the head.
Review
I got a great number of eARCs and a few physicals. I'm actually mellowing out on getting ARCs. I remember that I used to get SO MANY [more than months had days!] and even though that had its fun, I'm glad to have such an easier reading schedule. Thanks so much to Raincoast for All The Rage, Life Unaware and Don't Stay Up Late.
Raincoast also sent me some fabulous eARCs: I'll Meet You There, Shutter, Save Me, Becoming Jinn and The Novice. I have no idea how I'll read them all, but I'll try!
Note: the audiobook of Ensnared isn't for review. I received it from Eli Madison's giveaway. Thank you so much, Eli. And thank you Anita!
I've also gotten a few books on Netgalley and Edelweiss from my own requests. Thanks so much Disney-Hyperion for Every Last Word. And thanks Random House for The Girl at Midnight. Also, I was able to get The Remedy [which I LOVED] and The Summer of Chasing Mermaids on Edelweiss because Simon and Schuster is epic.

And you might be thinking... WHAT, there's MORE? Oops I did it again. I took too many books. And I am so ashamed. So I'm not even going to take a picture.I have a few of the Spook's Apprentice series books and Take Me On.
The only other announcement is that I'm starting Triple AMA! Watch for Monday's INTRO POST. Authors this year that are participating are Gretchen McNeil, Jodi Meadows, Katie McGarry, Jennifer Niven and Mindy McGinnis!
It's about to get bookish in here.
It's about to get bookish in here.
YEAY, congrats on doing so good in school :D What a great achievements.
ReplyDeleteAW THANKS FOR STOPPING BY MEL <333 YOU
DeleteOMG YOU GOT ALL THE RAGE. I am soooo looking forward to that book. And I'm really excited for The Girl at Midnight and The Summer of Chasing Mermaids and I like the look of Every Last Word, too! Hope you enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteWow, a teacher threw a softball at your phone!? I can't even imagine anything like that happening. I must have gone to a pretty different school, haha.
I know, right? It's so weird. I wasn't really angry so much as surprised.
DeleteCongratulations on doing well in school! That story about your teacher was hilarious and it cheered me up. :p Enjoy reading your books! They all look fab. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! All the Rage sounds so amazing. I hate how it's such a short sequel though! I definitely need to pick it up soon because I loved This is Not a Test. I hope you enjoy your books. :) Congrats on the school achievements! It must be a great feeling! (:
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Oh man, flashbacks to my high school Physics teacher who was convinced it actually WAS called Canadia. Seriously. Yay for doing well in school! That's always a weight off your shoulders.
ReplyDeleteAww,I feel for you Nova! Why do we have to fall for assholes?:)
ReplyDeleteThat teacher situation was pretty hilarious!I used to have a teacher like that, who used to throw the blackboard duster at girls who didn't concentrate. And she always missed. Our girls were always grumbling that she ruins our uniforms:)
I am really excited too see your Triple AMA!
BOY PROBLEMS. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!
DeleteSounds like a pretty good month to me! Acting out Divergent in class (even with a softball) is pretty cool. I hope you find a way to avoid that stupid boy, but until then are a a bunch of amazing boyfriends waiting inside books for you!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for your Triple AMA event!
-Tessa
I've got an ARC of All the RAge to read as well. I'll be back on Monday to check out the AMA post as I see some awesome authors listed!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my STS
ooh what a great week it sounds like you had (in books)! It sucks about your emotional life though— I hate when boys break your heart. Sucks. But I know you will move forward — I know that is hard though.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Diamond @ Dee's Reads - February Recap
Okay, first of all, that teacher was an ass. I'm glad you stood up for yourself and challenged him to actually hurt you. What kind of teacher would want to aim for a student's head with a softball?! What the flying fuck. This story is stressing me out because I hate teachers who think inflicting pain is the best punishment for supposedly bad behavior. Even if you were on your phone, he still shouldn't have done that. Grr!
ReplyDeleteIn other news, All the Rage will make you rage-y. It's that good. READ IT.
Faye at The Social Potato
Aw Faye, don't get stressed! I actually added that bit in for more comedic relief than anything. I don't think my teacher meant anything bad by it because it didn't hurt. She didn't whip it at me. I just wanted to smart mouth her, lol.
DeleteI absolutely LOVE I'll Meet You There and Every Last Word. Both were fantastic and I'm so jealous about All The Rage. I love Courtney Summers. Thanks for visiting me at Ficwishes.
ReplyDeleteLOL, your teacher sounds awesome. Happy your classes are going well.
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! Oh, wow...All the Rage! You definitely got some amazing books! Don't be ashamed about getting too many books, we all do it :) You showed great restraint when that teacher threw the ball at your phone. I would have thrown it right back. Happy reading and thanks for stopping by Michelle's Minions!
ReplyDeleteNew follower :)
I think throwing it back might get me kicked out of class. Plus, I wasn't mad at her or anything, so it's all good :)
DeleteGreat haul! I'm trying to not request so many ARCs as well, since I don't know how much time I have to read them. My work schedule is about to pick back up and I know that I'll be going insane. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteWow, great job with the school stuff! Impressive! And that boy.... ugh, he basically just sucks. I'll be mad at him for you okay? And wow, so many great books! I am really looking forward to Every Last Word, Becoming Jinn, and The Girl at Midnight! And I'll Meet You There was really, really great, I hope you love it too! Looking forward to your event, it sounds pretty fantastic! Enjoy the books, and I hope you have a wonderful week :)
ReplyDeleteShannon @ It Starts At Midnight
Just saying, if you had the details about the boy *shudders* you might be more than a little raged :/
DeleteDamn girl you battled a dragon? Sounded like a good month ;)
ReplyDeleteBlergh boys. You are amazing Nova <3 Never forget that!
Yay for you acing your classes though! Look at you go wooot!
Eeek, I know what you mean about library books. I checked out SO many this month. I should really get back to the Spook's Apprentice books.
ReplyDeleteI read the first book in the Howard's Alice retelling, but I still need to read the sequels. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNice haul!! I just finished reading Splintered about a month ago and really enjoyed it. I plan on reading the rest of the series this year as well. I hope you enjoy all of your new books and thanks for stopping by my STS!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, lately I've got an ARC priority and library priority list, to sort of shame me into catching up... it's working a bit. Hope you enjoy the new books!
ReplyDeleteLmao! Oh the horror. I'm glad you didn't actually get hit in the head by a ball ( I hope it was a nerf ball). Lovely books you've got here!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading, Nova. :)
Shoot, I forgot to do a recap again! Way for awesome grades! ARCs totally give me anxiety, I'd like to mellow out too... All The Rage looks good. Enjoy! Haha the Divergent reenactment is priceless.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on acing your classes Nova! That Divergent twist in your class sounds like it would have been a fun moment to remember. Hope you enjoy your news reads :)
ReplyDeleteBattled a dragon huh? I think I need some dragon battles in my life... just to jazz it up a little *dances* WHAT A NICE RECAP! I read such a small amount of books in Feb as well. 93 in Science? Please switch brains with me gurll you so smart! Awesome post Nova <3
ReplyDeleteAlex @ The Book's Buzz
Congrats on your grades! And also, I would have loved to have been there for that ball throwing. LOL, seems like it would've been entertaining to watch. Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteLaquesha @ We're All Bookish Here
Congrats on doing well in school! And screw the icky boy who hurt you - I promise (coming from someone who not two years ago experienced a really, really bad break up) that in a few months they're not going to matter and you'll be happier for it. ;D
ReplyDeleteAwesome books too! I just requested my first book from Netgalley, which is comical considering I've been book blogging for over a year now. *shrugs* It happens.
Great haul of books and keep up the good work at school! Boo to boy problems, especially when you have to spend a semester sitting right behind them as I did when I was in college way too many years ago to think about!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books and happy reading :)
I'm so happy you're doing well in school, it is SO important. Awesome haul :) I never get approved by S&S, so go for you! Enjoy your books,
ReplyDeleteHaha that "Divergent" story cracks me up. I can just tell you'd be a hoot to go to school with. I was sorta the same way. My teachers loved me (or they loved to hate me). Great times. :D
ReplyDeleteI loved Take Me On! Enjoy your new books, lady. <3
Great haul of books, All The Rage sounds quite interesting :) Benish| Feminist Reflections
ReplyDeleteBUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH THE SARCASM. THE SARCASM. You are my long lost twin. The flying football though. WHY WASN'T I THERE TO SEE THAT.
ReplyDeleteI read like barely anything in February despite all these books coming my way. Uni's begun and I barely have time to sleep, let alone do anything else. I can't even chat away for hours anymore. It's like I die off on mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays because I'm at school. And I'm basically gone until friday, because that's when all my weekly assessments are due. WHY WORLD I HATE YOU
I need to read the remedy though. BECAUSE YOU LOVE AND I WANT TO LOVE
