I am a really fast typer. I've done NaNoWriMo and I never find it hard to win. In fact, last year, I ended up finishing a week early. I can write about a thousand words in twenty minutes if I really try. I think this says a lot about me and how much time I spend on the computer, which is [really] sad.
But it didn't always use to be like that. I remember how much I struggled as a kid. At one point, I resorted to just using my pointer fingers because I felt like it was easier that way. [People also made fun of me because I'm Asian and there's this stereotype that I'm supposed to be good with computer. Like please, I fried my motherboard twice.]
Now, the way I type consists of me feeling the keys. If you asked me which key was to the right of "G," I actually wouldn't be able to tell you. It's like my fingers know where they're going, even though my mind doesn't. But if you give me a blindfold and a keyboard, I can type out an entire essay [with some spelling mistakes, obviously.]
But I digress.
Do you ever feel like it takes a long/short time to post? I remember that it used to take me hours to write a review. This was partly because my reviews were longer than the Harry Potter books. But a lot of it was due to my typing speed. I know a bunch of people who love to type even though they're slower than some people who can type three thousand words a minute.
I've always considered myself pretty good at writing posts, as long as I know exactly what I want. I can knock a review in about ten minutes with another good fifteen for the post formatting. However, this has come to practice. I remember my early discussions took me forever to write because I kept making crazy spelling mistakes. Some of you don't realize this but even though I'm really young, I've been blogging for more than two years [I just refuse to admit it. I will turn one year old over and over again until I decide to move on.]
Also to add, do you find it easy or hard to schedule posts a week in advanced? From what I know, doing posts ahead of time either means you're knocking out multiple posts a day or when you're writing, you haven't posted yet. I'm not even close to being ahead right now but I want to work on it. [This post was written Sunday.]
I also believe that being able to do posts in advanced is about the typing speed with how much free time someone has.
I'm curious as to how it is for you. Are you slow at typing and does it bother you when it comes to writing posts? Are you slow but would like to get speedier? Or are you as fast as I am, able to do a bunch of tricks, like recite the alphabet backwards as you type? I don't know, but I sure would like to.
