Song Review: Blackout - Breathe Carolina

with 1 comment
Title: Blackout
Artist: Breathe Carolina
Album: Hell Is What You Make It
Release Date: July 12, 2011
Record Label: Fearless Records
iTunes

"Blackout"

Cut up and I can't feel my hands
No need to chase
Can you relate?
Can you keep up the pace like you're dying for this?

Chorus:
And when you say "I'm not okay"
I left my phone in the cab
Now you can't get mad
I'm only getting started

I won't blackout
This time I've got nothing to waste
Let's go a little harder
I'm on fire
I won't blackout
I'm on my way
I'm only getting started

And I can't see your face
Cigarette the wrong way
Inhale to the top of my lungs
I've been dying for this

Chorus [x2]

Bridge:
This won't stop till I say so
This won't stop till I say so
This won't stop till I say so
Going and going and going and going and go, go [x2]

Chorus [x2]

Bridge [x2]

I first heard this on accident. One day a very bored Nova was surfing YouTube for new bands when suddenly, she stumbled on a song about partying. She thought she was going to hate the song [and yes, a part of her does] but she's split down the middle.

Blackout has a really catchy tune. I've found myself singing it around the house. I also really love the vocal effects in it. As a serious song, it would be a "no"but for its style of music, I think it's great! I love the electronic music and the stutters when he sings "blackout" because it's like a, well... blackout.

I have a thing against dance music and this is no exception. There were repeated words [a lot of them,] the lyrics aren't that clever and I get no meaning. That's why it's such a split down the middle song. Blackout probably refers to getting so wasted you blackout but how am I supposed to know, right?

Pretty much, it's a cute song that can get me dancing. Do I like it now? Yes. Will I like it in a month or so? Probably. But it isn't the kind of song that means anything.
But hey, not every song has to mean something deep, right? Sometimes lyrically dumb ones about alcohol are great.

AHHHHH I LOVE THIS SONG. I LOVE BREATHE CAROLINA. :D
"the lyrics aren't that clever and I get no meaning" <--- Yep, that's about how all of their songs are. But I love love love their beat! They're so catchy! My favorite song by them is definitely I.D.G.A.F. But Last Night and Can I Take You Home are good too!
