Is it weird that I didn't even know Tonight Alive until just recently? And now I'm in love with the entire "The Other Side" album. It's spectacular. It reminds me of the old paramore. (Nova is still mourning the loss of the old paramore, don't stare.)
So I just wanted to listen to the album and The Other Side was the title track. I really loved it so much and it stuck out for me. I mean, the rest of the album is amazing, of course, but The Other Side just hit a place for me.
The meaning of The Other Side made me want to start tearing up. I just get chills and I feel like I'm going to cry even though I never do. From what I gather, it's like a song where a girl gets friendzoned. But she's like "better friends than nothing at all." To make it worse, the person she loves, leaves her. It's like a story that went from happy times to sad times. I don't know why, but I keep thinking "the other side" means death, but the lyrics suggest differently. Can you just imagine loving someone who doesn't love you back and they ultimately leave you? (I got feels from this song. MAJOR feels.)
The music itself. In the beginning, it's a little slow. It kind of suggests it's a ballad, but the chorus is Jenna rocking out with her powerhouse voice and that's what really got me sold. There's such a variation between the chorus and the verses and it makes such an impact; there so much emotion in her voice. I can relate to her so much.
The music itself is also very catchy and I find myself singing it. I love this song lots. I might actually make a cover. (That's if I can find a decent instrumental.)
This song makes me feel so sad and so happy even though nothing of this sort has happened to me. It's so bittersweet and I can't help but listen to it. Over and over! I'm just going to go listen to it on repeat with some tissues. Done.
