3xA MA: Jodi Meadows

with 9 comments

I feel like authors deserve so much from the readers. I believe that authors are people who really connect with us. It was actually an author who I "sorta" owe my life to. Authors and their words make us feel and they can help us.
In this event, I want to get to know the authors. I’d like to get interviews or blog posts about THEM in connection to their book. Who is the mind behind each author?

For each post, I leave links to connect with the author. Please take the time to use one of those links and leave a message for each author, if you can. It can be towards the book or it can be something as easy as “I love the post you wrote on Out of Time! <33”

Jodi Meadows is author of the Incarnate Trilogy. You should probably know it because it's so pretty! It's oh-so pretty sparkly and that model (Susan) is perfect! I got to talk to her on TeaTime and stare at her little critters! They're so adorbs! <333 So obviously, when she asked me what to write a post on, I definitely chose the cutest option :D

Five Facts About Jodi's Ferrets!

Five facts about my ferrets, in no particular order:

1. My ferrets write my books. A lot of people are surprised by this one, since ferrets don't have opposable thumbs and supposedly can't read, but those things don't matter. Not when you're a ferret, because . . .

2. Ferrets have mind control powers. No, it's true. When my ferrets press themselves against the bars of their cage, I let them out. When they stand up on their hind feet and reach for me, I pick them up, even if I'm super busy and know they're just using me as an elevator. (They want on the desk.)

3. My ferrets like soup. Every winter I make something called duck soup for them. Duck soup contains no actual duck. It's just kibble, boiled chicken, eggs, and water in the blender. It looks like vomit. But tastes great, if you're a ferret.

4. They sleep in hammocks, just like their ancestors did in the wild. Maybe.

5. It doesn't matter how many fancy toys and sleep sacks I buy for them: their favorite playthings are yellow bubble envelopes, those plastic and cardboard packages that pens and toothbrushes come in, and whatever boxes I've left lying around. Their favorite bedding? Old t-shirts and sheets. (Except for that bunk bed hammock. But only the top bunk. Because priorities

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did! Especially those pictures. I'm a sucker for cutie-patootie animals <333

Like many writers, I’ve always wanted to do this professionally. You know, after I decided against being an astronaut.
Unlike many writers, I didn’t skip straight from picture books to adult novels. I have fond memories of going to Bookstop every month for the latest Baby-Sitters Club (which I kept reading, even after I realized they were never going to let the paranormal elements be real), and even fonder memories of hanging out in my middle school library. The librarians probably knew exactly what they were doing when they suggested book after book and discussed them with me at length. I, of course, had no clue they were turning me into a book addict, but it worked out for the best. Once I found the books where magic and other fantastic elements were real, I was hooked.
When I was twenty, I met a boy, moved 1,500 miles, and married him all within six months. I now realize that was crazy and dangerous, but it seemed natural at the time and, again, worked out for the best. Not only did we stay madly in love, he worked full time at a hard job so I could stay home to write books and, hopefully, one day get published.

The other crazy thing we did was fall in love with ferrets. They have their own bedroom.
My hobbies, aside from spending all my money on books and Kippy/ferret treats, revolve around yarn. I love crocheting, knitting, and spinning. In addition to several handspindles, I share my living room with a spinning wheel named Bob.
Every Sunday I blog about spinning and other yarn things here. Ferret pictures can be found here.

Aww, ferrets! They're adorable. :) I remember when my brother and I were really young we saw a book on how to take care of ferrets and that's when my brother decided we were going to get one (we never actually did). Ferrets sound awesome though ;D
