We Aren't that Cool

with 3 comments
This edition of WSU talks about the whole fantasy vs. reality thing. I have a need to bring that up now!

Kay, so if you've met me, you'll know that I'm super awkward. I make really dumb jokes, make people uncomfortable and turn red at the weirdest of moments. No, this isn't a post to make me look like I'm bashing myself. I promise.

Have you ever idolized a blogger and you're like "OMG, this blogger is so cool! I want to be them!"? I'm alone? Really? Really? ...No.

Anyway, you think they're oh-so good with words and really in real life they're just as awkward as me. It's like a total 180 and sometimes, you feel like your world is shattered.

I'm not trying to make it sound like it's all true but seriously. If I've been told I'm "cool" on twitter and then BANGGG, insta-awkward in real life, why doesn't that apply to other people?
(And just for the record, I'll never understand how I'm told I'm cool. Smart... sure? Weird...deffo! Nice...I try, but "cool"? It just wigs me out when someone calls me cool in a way where they're serious. I'm like "HELLLL NOOOOO! Have you MET me?")

Basically, I'm writing this as a little message to everyone. We're all little odd muffins and I love it that way. Twitter has a way to make everyone look good, no matter how ugly their laugh is. (have you heard mine?!) Don't be surprised when you meet someone you thought was smooth and they've actually got their instant-awkwardness shirts on. And in my case, it isn't a shirt; it's a onesie that I wear everywhere.

Fact is that fantasy in a place we reinvent ourselves. I can be an ultra popular blogger with thousands of followers in fantasy/interwebs (hahahahahah...dream on, Nova) but a complete loser with no friends that's really bad at talking to people in real life.

We just need to learn to separate the two.
And note to people who can separate the two: can you teach me?

I kinda suck at keeping my two worlds apart as well, I mean, everyone in my class knows about my blog and even my teachers!

HAHA well no one I knows that I blog and I am completely fine with that! I'm an extrovert in reality so I'm not sure if I can call myself awkward, but at the moment I actually find myself preferring the company of my bookish friends on Twitter than with my real ones XD But I guess a person can be both cool and awkward at the same time-- you don't have to be one or the other :D

I'm awkward in real life AND on Twitter =) I always want to join in on conversations but I rarely do because I always feel like what I'm about to tweet is dumb so I change my mind. Silly, right?

    Fun post ;-)
