My Thoughts

This song is so creepy! It's called "Glory and Gore" but actually, it's a really deep song. It's only creepy because of the music and how it's sung. Plus, Lorde has this dark aura that she comes with. I LOVE it! A lot of people are like "Lorde is overplayed and annoying" but though that's true, she's actually a genius in a sense.

Glory and Gore is actually another take on fame. Glory is fans' attention while "Gore" is the crap famous people have to go through to get attention. Like "gore" would be celebrities getting arrested or doing drugs. And one line in specific is "you can try to take us, but victory's contagious". This is showing how some people go into the music biz thinking they can try to change the fabric of pop music and instead, they end up getting sucked into the "glory" too.

It's a great message (that takes deciphering) in a beautiful song. I really love the tune of the song. I also love how the chorus/pre-chorus has a octave separated harmony. It's like a harmony yet a unison at the same time and dang... gives me goosebumps!

What I don't like about this song is how emotionless Lorde sings it. She sings it with amazing technique but I feel nothing about her personal opinion. If she put more feeling into it, I'd like it that much more.
