"Here's To Never Growing Up"
Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs
With the boom box blaring as we're falling in love
Got a bottle of whatever, but it's getting us drunk
Singing here's to never growing up
Call up all our friends, go hard this weekend
For no damn reason, I don't think we'll ever change
Meet you at the spot, half past ten o'clock
We don't ever stop, and we're never gonna change
Say, won't you stay forever stay
If you stay forever hey
We can stay forever young
Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs
With the boom box blaring as we're falling in love
Got a bottle of whatever, but it's getting us drunk
Singing, here's to never growing up
We'll be running down the street, yelling "Kiss my ***!"
I'm like yeah whatever, we're still living like that
When the sun's going down, we'll be raising our cups
Singing, here's to never growing up
Oh whoa, oh whoa, here's to never growing up
Oh whoa, oh whoa, here's to never growing up
We live like rock stars, dance on every bar
This is who we are, I don't think we'll ever change (hell no!)
They say just grow up, but they don't know us
We don't give a ****, and we're never gonna change
Say, won't you stay forever stay
If you stay forever hey
We can stay forever young

Oh whoa, oh whoa, (da de da de da) here's to never growing up (no we're never growing up)
Oh whoa, oh whoa, here's to never growing up
This is pop music at it's core. That Top 40 stuff that I have a "love/hate" relationship with. I like Avril at certain moments... This was not one of those moments. No, I'm not going to bash the song, that would be stupid. I have multiple issues with this song. The only reason it's getting 1.5 stars is because the tune is catchy, which (honestly) it really is.
My first issue with this song is how slow it is. It's got a steady beat good for tapping your feet, but I felt like it was really slow. I've been singing more and more Broadway and there, there isn't a lot of instrumental, so the singer is very dependent. In this song, there are a LOT of random pauses because the lyrics are very chopped. I really didn't like that because it just feels off to me.
I also want to point out that I listen to a LOT of pop music. I'm usually in it for the music, not the words. Not very much pop music has meaningful lyrics. This one really doesn't have ANYTHING meaningful to me, but the lyrics are actually not a deciding factor in the final rating.
Something else that bothered me a LOT is the fact that if you've heard Avril sing songs like "My Happy Ending" or "When You're Gone", you see that she has a beautiful voice and actually good range. She can go above this pop music that's doing nothing for her voice. I really don't like how someone with talent is making music that (in the end) makes no impact on me.

I can't currently listen to the song, but I do like some of Avril's older stuff. Bummer this one wasn't as good as some of that!
