@ my first book signing. I'm never going to do this again... For the rest of today. It was horrible to wait, but it was worth it in the end.

That kind of sums up what happened March 9th. I'm home now, but I just need to get all my thoughts about this out or I'll explode into some kind of fiery blob of fandomness & fangirlishness... What am I doing with my life?
So, as of noon at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, I have successfully met 1 published author and had a meet and greet. Yeah, this day marks a very special occasion. It was actually really special and I was kind of jumpy; this time I don't blame it on the multiple (bags of) gummy worms.
Do any of you know what a book signing is like? I've only been to one, so I really have no idea in a whole. I can't judge them all one this one. All I know is that it's really fun in the event portion and even MORE boring in the waiting portion. Gosh.
So, even before meeting Marissa Meyer in real life, I met her on Shindig for her virtual release party of Scarlet. I got to talk to her for all of 5 minutes. Yes, I know it's like nothing, but still... EEP!!! Sadly she didn't recognize me when I saw her, but then again, I didn't go by Nova when I did tell her my name.
So, the event was like a big talk about her books, fairytales in general and somehow Marissa managed to make me like her even more. She's a complete nerd in her family and I really think that's awesome too.
My favorite part is definitely when she was telling the audience gory (sexual) fairytales andwe were all having a good time.
The line totally sucked though. The entire process of the event took more than 3 hours for me and I'm not afraid to admit it.
But here's a picture of ME with Marissa. You guys finally get to see what I look like! I don't post pictures of myself often though. I don't see the reason why I should (unless it's in the case that I'm meeting some kind of author-awesomeness)
Oh and this is complete PROOF that I am, in fact, 13. Though I do look like I'm 10...
This is going in my Scrapbook... Yeah, I have a scrapbook. Don't hate me 'cos I'm cool. |
And then I got mah books signed. She signed them to my REAL name which is why the pictures don't show the personal signing. It's so cool because she also wrote a little message to go along with it!
And the last thing she signed for me was something I requested...
MY STORY JOURNAL!!!!
So quick info about me is that I am both a reader and a writer so I have this little book where I put all the plot lines, character profiles and everything else in it. It's a slow process but it gives me something to feel proud of. I'm also collecting author signatures in it because it's my own story journal so what better motivation to write than to have published author sigs in them? I know I'm repeating myself.
But here's the pic.
And this is what the journal looks like from the front. It's a little leather bound red book. My religion teacher gave it to me. I love it... SO MUCH!!!
Last 2 things I want to talk about in terms of Marissa Meyer is the Cinder Read-a-long and my copy of scarlet. I was part of the Cinder Read-a-Long, though I didn't post on this blog. But I tweeted Marissa and she sent me a swag pack. How awesome?
In the swag pack...
- 2 scarlet stickers (avaliable at the signing too)
- 2 SIGNED bookplates (I'm putting those in a titanium safe)
- a NaNoWriMo sticker (I did NaNo and won!)
- 2 Cinder/Scarlet bookmarks (Also available at the signing)
- Iko tattoo (available at the signing)
- Her business card... with all her contact info so I can stalk... *cue evil laugh*
And look, you can see my (blogging) name!
Notice how one of the bookplates is covering my address?
Smart Nova...
The copy of scarlet I got was FROM Macmillan. And the best thing about it is the fact that the package it came in is RED.... SCARLET!!!! I don't have a pic because I can't find the package. It's probably in the titanium safe but I can't check.
If you're still reading this, comment about what author you've met and anything awesome about that! :)
Nova over and out.
Also, Marissa if you're reading this, please come to Toronto again for the Cress party... PLEASE???
We´re the same age! I´ve never met an author before, sadly ._.
